My Granddaughter and Pepper-what a team! Pepper was a dog I never dreamed would touch my soul as she did. Pepper and her siblings were left abandoned in a vacant car with only her and a brother surviving. She was adopted for approximately 3 months and then turned into a no kill shelter. Her stay there was for over a year and although she had food and shelter her beginning in life was not to be a pleasant one. During her stay some of the volunteer kids picked on her leaving her hurt emotionally and physically scared. They scared her when she was sleeping, picked her up and threw her into the kennel fence, kicked her and teased her and what else I will never know. I only came to find these few things out after I had adopted her. She was literally afraid of everything, especially big men. Pepper became my shadow and learned that she was safe and her home was with us. It took a lot of time but she eventually started to trust People. Her most famous attribute was her one floppy ear. That was Pepper! She had a smile or grin that you worked to see. Pepper loved to be brushed and combed..She would go into her show dog stance..head high, tail up, legs and body stretched to perfection. At her young age Pepper started having trouble getting up..It started slowly and eventually the pain started to show on her face and actions. Worked with the Vet to find a problem and never did figure out what was wrong. Pepper finally tore her ACL and with the problems in her spine and hips decided that even with surgrey she would still have pain.
I let her join Kai and to this day I still miss her. A loyal and loving friend I did lose on that Day !
